War - stress relief and finding Peace - a different prespective during these troubled times.
To say this war brings us stress is an understatement. War with Iraq brings us face to face with our mortality, with the horrors that will take so long for us to work through. This war has heaped stress on us and turned many of us inside out--we seek answers, we want to understand how this could be happening in our time.
What has helped me the most is Brian Swimme's "Canticles to the Cosmos" tape series. I listen to this series again and again. I have been wondering what I could possibly share that could "assist" folks during this time, give some hope, give some insight, keep us from losing hope. I can honestly tell you that these tapes are a God-send.
Here's an excerpt from the series which I have found so helpful during this time of war and upheaval:
"There is a heightened tension within the whole planet. The very responsibility which brought about, the pressure we feel, can't be seen as a burden. It has to been seen as our ally, as a way of focusing on what is absolutely essential. Why do anything else?"
We have seen the earth's decaying, the ozone layer is getting larger, and we now see human carnage in a way most of us have only seen in movies. If we let ourselves become numb and think there is nothing we can do, then we will carry that "psychic" energy with us.
I don't have any answers. I struggle constantly to stay centered, and most of my waking hours our spent in some kind of attention or prayer for those who are suffering.
Everytime I have felt myself going down during these times, I turn to listen to these tapes. They present to us the New Unverse Story, they present to us a way to ignite within us the awarness of our ontologoical oneness with all that is. It's not some spiritual pie in the sky or fantical belief. It is what emprical science has discovered. Brian makes it avialable to lay people in way that will ignite the heart.
What would people do if they knew that the entire earth, every creature, ever human, every tree, every rock, every animal all of it, the entire cosmos came from the same place "literrally". Could we continue as we are?
